Today, I finished work at 5.30pm, and I returned home to find a delivery of my new flip up sunglasses; I have been searching for these as a cheap solution for sunny days - no prescription costs needed! So I decided to venture into Clapton and show them off - even though the sky was grey and I wore a rain coat in preparation of rain - it never came...
My walk to the local shops became a walk to my favourite local street, Thistlewaite Rd, which then became a walk to Springfield Park where I found a view to North London and Walthamstow Marshes, and so my walk to the shop became a walk into the Marshes - I was away for three to four hours until it became dark at around 9.30 pm. Those marshes were wonderful; it was as if I were in the countryside - the bulrushes grew from water, mud gulged under my feet and I ducked under a five foot bridge as heavy trains sped over head. I saw midges, rabbits and stroked horses. All this only fifteen minutes from my inner city flat. The River Lee, played host to river boats, racing canoes and pub meals.
This evening was wonderful.
