To all who have stumbled on to my new blog, "Hello!". I have started this blog with the aim to write about my adventures in London and abroad, to delve deep into research and to increase the enjoyment of life. I find people and places so exciting and I am interested to document the experiences that I encounter on a regular basis, living in a large city like London and whilst travelling.
Perhaps you would like to know a little about me before you place yourselves in my dirty hands? The first thing you should know is that I am too nostalgic for my own good; if I am cycling through London on a hot day, my mind wanders to Brighton in Autumn, or if I am in Chichester I dream of London in a rainstorm, entering a warm pub and ordering a whisky. If I am in Paris, my mind wanders to my childhood in Buckingham and if I am drinking in Brighton, I think of the trains over Slussen in Stockholm. This nostalgia brings great sadness in me, which in turns causes a great joy that life is a continuous stream of events.
A second thing you should know is that I am overly romantic. I find the history of an area influences my opinion on its current state. I can still see the East End gangsters walking through Whitechapel, the Bloombury group walking through Bloomsbury Square and the French Protestants in Fournier St. I almost cry when finishing a book and I talk to myself out of excitement when I witness people living their daily lives in Clapton. Even with the current News of the World phone hacking scandal, I seem to find myself happy that the police may be taking bribes and that the journalists are living up to their TV character stereotypes, it is as if real life has merged with fiction and novels.
The third thing you should know, and the final thing that I will tell you, is that I can be a terrible misanthrope. Perhaps this is a contradiction to the above two character witness statements, but on many occasions I find myself dissapointed with the human race, I can feel like an outsider but this has its benefits. On the other side of the coin, when I like people, I love them.
So this blog will soon be updated with events, trips and with accounts interesting people I meet along the way. Life is here to be lived and I am here to live it!
